Guide and Virtual Tour of The Lake District: Derwent Water.
Panorama | Review | Map
is often referred to as the Queen of the Lakes. It is quite beautiful and found to the west of the attractive market town of Keswick, with cafes, rowing boats, passenger boats and picnic spots on its most accessible north eastern shore. There is even a theatre in the grounds of the huge car park.
On the western shore of the lake, is spectacular Catbells, which is a peculiar name for a mountain. This impressively shaped fell is a relatively easy climb, but looks fantastic. It's a good first climb for the inexperienced walker and children. The photos are bound to impress your friends.
